This common white bracket fungus has many uses and has been utilised by humans for thousands of years. In the Bronze Age you made a brew from them to get rid of intestinal parasites, when the famous iceman Ötzi was found he had some Birch Polypore on a leather string around his neck. Bracket mushrooms like these were often used as tinder, and in more modern days some use the birch brackets to create paper.
